Anderson Named SEC Player of the Week 3/3/03
Senior
center Chantelle Anderson has been named the SEC Player of
the Week. She is the first Commodore to win the honor this
season. Anderson averaged 29.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in
leading Vanderbilt to a 1-1 record for the week against the
#3 and #4 teams in the country. She scored a season-high 35
points at #3 Tennessee going 10-20 from the field and 15-17
from the line. She also totaled six rebounds, one assist and
one blocked shot. She then totaled a game-high 24 points in
a 72-60 victory over #4 LSU. She also numbered a career-high
five assists.
For the week, Anderson shot 52.9 percent from the field (18-34)
and 88.5 percent from the line (23-26) and numbered 11 rebounds,
six assists and three blocked shots.
She is 90 points shy of setting the Vanderbilt All-Time Scoring
Record and now totals 2,512 career points, the second-most
points by and Vanderbilt basketball player - male or female.
This is the second Player of the Week honor for Anderson
in her career, earning the honor Dec. 3, 2001. |
