Jim Foster Named Finalist for Naismith Coach of the Year Award 2/20/02

Vanderbilt University women's basketball coach Jim Foster was named one of 20 finalists for the 2002 Women's College Basketball Coach of the Year Award on Wednesday. The award, presented annually by the Atlanta Tipoff Club, will be awarded to this year's recipient on April 5 in Atlanta. Foster, a 2001 Naismith Award finalist, joins his former assistant coaches Geno Auriemma of Connecticut and Deb Patterson of Kansas State and is one of four Southeastern Conference coaches on the list of this year's finalists. He is the second Commodore to be named a finalist for a Naismith Award this year, as junior center Chantelle Anderson was named a finalist for the Naismith National Player of the Year Award last week.
