PLAYERS AND NUMBERS TO WATCH
Senior point guard Ashley McElhiney recorded a career-high
13 assists and set the Vanderbilt Career Assists Record
at UT-Martin. She surpassed Ginger Jared who totaled
516 (1993-96, 3.9 pga, 132 games).
The Commodores have held six of their eight opponents
to under 37 percent shooting from the field.
VU has outscored its opponents 339-187 in the opening
half, including a 162-64 margin in the last three games
(56-13 vs. UW-Milwaukee; 46-20 vs. Austin Peay; 60-31
at UT-Martin)
Junior forward Jenni Benningfield has led the Commodores
in scoring and rebounding in four games - she totals
three double-double performances.
Senior center Chantelle Anderson has been named as a
nominee for the inagural Creamland Dairies Women’s Collegiate
Basketball Student-Athlete of the year award announced
by the Albuquerque Convention and Visitors Bureau. The
award honors college seniors for their athletic and
academic achievements as well as community involvement.
Anderson recorded a season-high 27 points at UT-Martin.

The Commodores host Holy Cross January 4 (Saturday)
at noon in the annual Fan Appreciation Game. Tickets
are $1. A life-size growth chart poster of Chantelle
Anderson (6-6) will be given to the first 2000 fans
(check out the poster on VU’s website at vucommodores.com).
An autograph session follows the game in the North lobby.

Fans who bring their Holy Cross ticket stub to the
Vanderbilt Athletic Department Ticket Office can receive
one FREE ticket to the Commodore's Southeastern Conference
home opener vs. South Carolina on January 16 based on
availability. These tickets must be redeemed at the
McGugin Center Ticket Office from January 6 - 15 from
8:30 am - 5 pm.
COMMODORES SET FIRST HALF SCORING MARGIN RECORD
The Commodores outscored Milwaukee 56-13 in the first
half to set a school record for highest scoring margin
in the first half - 43 points. The Commodore defense
held UWM to just 13.6 percent shooting in the first
half (3-22). VU was 17-29 (58.6) from the field, including
a 9-13 performance from 3-point range. Sophomore Abi
Ramsey totaled five of those 13 3-pointers.
40-MINUTES
Ashley McElhiney played in the entire Boston University
and Purdue games and now totals 25 40-minute games in
her career. She is now tied with Wendy Scholtens (1988-91)
for second place with 25 career 40- minute games. Donna
Atkinson (1983-86) is the career leader with 34.
JENNI
ON THE OFFENSIVE
Junior forward Jenni Benningfield has led the Commodores
in points and rebounds in four games this season (Boston,
Syracuse, Purdue and Austin Peay). She totals seven
double-double games, including three this season (Boston-16
points and 13 rebounds; Austin Peay-20 points, 10 rebounds;
UT-Martin-16 points and 11 rebounds). She totaled four
double-doubles her freshman season and none last season.
She led all scorers at Syracuse with 19 points and numbered
eight rebounds. She numbered 15 points (13 in the second
half) and nine rebounds vs. #6 Purdue. Jenni totaled
a season-high 20 points vs. Austin Peay and numbered
a season-high five assists at UT-Martin where she led
all rebounders with 11 boards.
She also picked up where she left off last season in
drawing offensive fouls. She took three offensive charges
vs. Boston, one at Syracuse, one vs. Youngstown State,
two vs. Purdue and one vs. Austin Peay.
