The Vanderbilt Commodores closed out 2001 by scoring a season-high 106 points in a 106-64 victory over Canisius in a New Year's Eve afternoon contest at Memorial Gym. The Commodores were paced by five players in double figures, led by Chantelle Anderson with 27 points. Jillian Danker added 18 points, Zuzi Klimesova scored 16 points, Ashley Earley had 14 points, and Ashley McElhiney had 11 points. Vanderbilt opened up strong in the first half and took a 20-point lead into halftime. Vanderbilt continued to produce offensively in the second half and pulled away to the 42point victory.

Head Coach Jim Foster:
"We were a little bit better defensively today. Our offense isn't a problem, but our defense has to develop a certain mentality for us to be productive and today we were closer."

"It was nice to get quality minutes from everybody. I feel good that we didn't have anybody playing in the 30 minute range today."
