MILWAUKEE
(AP) -- Chantelle Anderson made her first 12 shots on the
way to scoring 35 points to lead No. 4 Vanderbilt to a 79-64
victory over UW-Milwaukee on Friday night.
Anderson
was 10-of-10 in the first half as Vanderbilt (8-1) built a
44-29 lead after trailing early.
UW-Milwaukee
(3-3) led 17-15 before Candice Storey started a 15-0 run that
included six points by Anderson.
Anderson,
who led the nation by shooting 70 percent from the field as
a sophomore, scored both inside and outside in her 21-point
first half. Her only blemish was a missed free throw.
Zuzi
Klimesova scored 11 of her 18 points in the first half. She
combined with Anderson to outscore the Panthers 31-29 in the
half. Jillian Danker added 14 points.
Jessica
Wilhite had 14 points and Stefanie Kaufmann and Maria Viall
12 apiece for UWM.
The
Commodores opened the second half with a 9-2 run that included
a layup and 3-pointer by Anderson to increase the lead to
53-31. The Panthers couldn't get closer than 13 the rest of
the game.
Anderson
finished 15-of-18, missing her first shot with 15:15 to play.
The
Commodores shot 58 percent (30-for-52) for the game. UWM shot
40 percent (25-for-63), including 6-of-22 on 3-pointers.
Vanderbilt
will host James Madison Sunday afternoon at 4 pm at the Gaylord
Entertainment Center.
