Led by Jenni Benningfield's 15 points, four Commodores scored in double figures as #3 Vanderbilt defeated Oregon State 81-55 in a second round WNIT contest.

VU led Oregon State 37-25 at halftime behind Benningfield's 10 points. In the first half sophomore Chantelle Anderson played only eight minutes, was called for two fouls and did not attempt a shot. Candice Storey came off the bench and was 2-2 from the field, 4-4 from the line and totaled two rebounds in 12 minutes. Ashley McElhiney chipped in nine points.

Anderson finally scored with 14:16 remaining and ultimately was 5-7 from the field and 2-3 from the line for 12 points. It was the 64th game of her career in which she reached double figures and 17th straight, which matched the longest streak of her career.

McElhiney and Storey finished with 12 each.

The Commodores committed just seven turnovers and forced 16 by OSU, in part because of eight steals. VU shot 50 percent from the field overall, 57.5 percent over the final 20 minutes.

The Commodores outscored Oregon State 14-7 at the finish as they built their lead to as many as 28 points.

VU outrebounded OSU 31-24 led by freshman Ashley Earley with six. Benningfield and McElhiney each totaled six assists.

Vanderbilt Head Coach Jim Foster:

"When you play team from traditional power conferences, they are used to playing tough competition. They did some things we had to adjust to and I thought we responded well."

"I think people make the mistake of thinking we are one dimensional (Chantelle Anderson), but we showed today if you want to take Chantelle out of our offense, we have other players who can score."

"We played better tonight (than Friday night) and we played a better team. We just held a Pac-10 team to 55 points and went 40 minutes with only seven turnovers. It is only November 11 and we have a lot of the season ahead of us to continue to improve."

Sophomore Forward Jenni Benningfield:

"Offensively our team worked well and made the extra pass. We forced them to work hard defensively on every possesion to cover our open shooters."

Junior Guard Ashley McElhiney:

"I think because they closed down on Chantelle with two or three people we did a good job of moving the ball around and hitting the open shots on the outside that they left us."

Oregon State Head Coach: Judy Spoelstra:

"We ran our match-up zone on Chantelle but in the first half we were slow getting out on their three-point shooters."

"They are a tough team to figure out how to defend. They have an inside threat in Chantelle, good outside shooters like Benningfield and Danker and McElhiney just runs everything."
