Tennis Represented at ITA All-American Championships 10/10/02
CHATTANOOGA,
Tenn. Three members of the Vanderbilt mens tennis
team will compete in the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championship,
which kicks off Thursday morning at The Champions Club.
Leading the way for mens tennis head coach Ken Flach
is junior Bobby Reynolds (Acworth, Ga.), who is seeded sixth
in the draw of 64. He begins his quest for this prestigious
title at 10 a.m. Thursday when he takes on No. 56-ranked Nathan
Price of Arkansas. If Reynolds wins his opening round match,
he will return later that afternoon at 2 p.m. to take on either
K.C. Corkery of Stanford or Florian Marquardt of Virginia
Commonwealth.
Junior Chad Harris (Aurora, Colo.), who is ranked No. 38
in the preseason ITA poll, will have a difficult opening round
match when he takes on No. 27-ranked Mike Yani of Duke at
9 a.m. If Harris makes it through his opening round match,
he will be faced with the challenge of fourth seeded Amer
Delic of Illinois or Floridas Troy Hahn at 1 p.m.
Reynolds and doubles partner Lewis Smith (Memphis, Tenn.)
will also compete in the doubles draw on Thursday evening.
The No. 19-ranked doubles team will have their hands full
when they take on top-seeded Scott Lipsky and David Martin
of Stanford at 5 p.m.
