Pepperdine Head Coach Adam Steinberg
"We were very nervous coming out, and it showed in the
beginning. We were able to play through it and overcome
our nerves. Eight of my 10 players have never played
a collegiate match until this year, so they have grown
up fast."
"Having coached in the SEC, I was very familiar with
these teams and the environment here. Of course, my
players were not (familiar), but I think I was able
to prepare them for the competition."
Mississippi State Head Coach Sylvain Guichard
"I'm very proud of our guys - they played really hard.
I am disappointed in losing, but I am very proud of
their effort. Pepperdine is a tough team."
"We are short in depth after losing a player in August
(Luiz Carvalho) and then two more last month (#3 Jerome
Le Belicard and #4 Max Fomine). The end of the season
has been hard. It is difficult to play without two of
your best players, but I am very proud of our team and
what they have accomplished. They have been very competitive
."
