Named to SEC Academic Honor Roll 4/22/03
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt's Matt Carter, Russell Lakey
and Martin Schnedlitz were named to the 2002-03 SEC Men's
Basketball Academic Honor Roll Tuesday by SEC Commissioner
Mike Slive. With three honorees, Vanderbilt had the second-most
of any school in the conference.
For Carter, this is the third consecutive season he has been
named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. The senior from Houston,
Texas, is scheduled to graduate this May with a double major
in civil engineering and math.
For Lakey and Schnedlitz, this is the first time they have
been selected to the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Lakey, who is
a junior from Los Angeles, Calif., is majoring in economics.
Schnedlitz, who is a sophomore from Houston, Texas, also is
majoring in economics.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must: 1)
have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year (two
semesters or three quarters) or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or
higher for their career; 2) be a sophomore or higher in terms
of academic classification; and 3) have 24 semester or 36
quarter hours toward a degree. The 2003 SEC Men's Basketball
Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2001-2002
academic calendar.
