per game, while shooting 75 percent from the freethrow line...In just three
years at The Lawrenceville School, scored 1,390 points to become the school’s
all-time leading scorer... Led his team to an 18-8 record and the Class A Prep
state championship as a junior and led the team to the state semifinals as a
senior...Three times was tabbed First-Team All-Prep by the Newark Star-Ledger
and was named the Star-Ledger’s Prep Player of the Year this past season. The
Trenton Times named Payton All-Prep Player of the Year, All-Prep First Team
and All- Area First Team as a senior...Team captain as a senior...He played
his freshman year at Burlington Township.
