Snedeker No. 1 in Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings

Tenn. - Vanderbilt's Brandt Snedeker is once again ranked
No. 1 in the nation in the this week's Golfweek/Sagarin
Poll, while the Commodores are No. 22 in the nation. This
past fall, Snedeker spent time at the No. 1 spot during
the first week of November.
Individually, Snedeker moved to No. 1 in this week's Golfweek/Sagarin
Poll. In Vanderbilt's first event of the spring, the senior
from Nashville, Tenn., finished in second place and just
one shot out of the top spot at the Gator Invitational in
Gainesville, Fla. For his efforts, Snedeker was named SEC
Golfer of the Week.
Snedeker has been atop the SEC Rankings since the beginning
of the fall season. In measuring stroke averages, he currently
has more than a two stroke lead over the SEC's second-place
golfer with his mark of 69.06 in 17 rounds.
In his six tournaments this year, Snedeker is 439-4-1 overall,
10-4 versus Top-25 players, 25-4 against Top-50 players
and 64-4-1 versus Top-100 competition.
Using the team rankings from the Golfweek/Sagarin Poll,
the No. 22 Commodores have carried their success from the
fall into this spring. Vanderbilt opened the spring season
with a tie for fifth place at the 15-team Gator Invitational.
In 17 team rounds this fall, the Commodores have compiled
a 289 team stroke average and finished below par as a team
in three of the six events. Vanderbilt is now 56-21-2 overall,
3-12-1 against Top-25 teams, 12-18-1 versus Top-50 teams
and 39-21-2 against Top-100 teams.
The next action for the Commodores will come March 17-18
when they participate in the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championship
in Aiken, S.C.
