Snedeker No. 2 in Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings 11/1/02
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. - Vanderbilt's Brandt Snedeker moved up to No. 2 in
the nation in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Poll, while the
Commodores as a team are ranked No. 17. Vanderbilt also
moved to No. 25 in the most recent Golf World rankings
Using the team rankings from the Golfweek/Sagarin Poll,
the Commodores have done well in their four tournaments
this fall. Vanderbilt is 36-13-1 overall, 2-7-1 against
Top-25 teams, 8-12-1 versus Top-50 teams and 27-13-1 against
Top-100 teams.
Individually, climbed from No. 3 to No. 2 in this week's
Golfweek/Sagarin Poll after claiming his third consecutive
tournament championship with a 12-under-par score of 204
at the Coca-Cola Tennessee Tournament of Champions in Knoxville,
Tenn. This tournament title follows his tournament win with
a 12-under-par score of 198 at the Mason Rudolph Championship
at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn., and his victory
with a nine-under-par score of 135 at the rain-shortened
Gary Koch Intercollegiate in Tampa, Fla.
In his four tournaments this fall, Snedeker is 287-1-1 overall,
7-1-1 versus Top-25 players, 15-1-1 against Top-50 players
and 35-1-1 versus Top-100 competition.
Vanderbilt and Snedeker will have a chance to back up their
rankings Monday and Tuesday at The Prestige. The Prestige
is co-hosted by the University of California, Davis and
Stanford University and will be played on the La Quinta
Resort Mountain Course in La Quinta, Calif. This will be
the Commodores' fifth and final tournament of the fall season.
Vanderbilt enters The Prestige with a team stroke average
of 285.45 and is four-under-par for the season. The Commodores
also enter play with top-10 finishes in all four tournaments
this fall, including the tournament championship at the
Mason Rudolph Championship.
Snedeker is looking to continue his record-setting fall
as he attempts to claim his fourth consecutive tournament
title. With a stroke average of 68.36 he currently leads
the Commodores and has more than a two-stroke advantage
on the entire SEC.
Sophomores Mark Donnell and Lance Goodson are next on the
Vanderbilt lineup with stroke averages of 71.75 and 72.18
respectively. Senior Craig Dunlap continues his strong season
with a stroke average of 72.73, while sophomore Ben McClung
rounds out this week's traveling party with a 74.55 stroke
average.
