Commodores Win Finale,
Double Up Buckeyes
April 19, 1997
Nashville, Tenn. - The Vanderbilt Commodore women's lacrosse team finished out the regular season on a high note, doubling up the Buckeyes of Ohio State 14-7 today at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Stadium. The win gives Vanderbilt 10 wins on the year, the second straight year with 10 wins for the second year program.
The game was hard-fought throughout, with neither team able to really pull away in the first half. At intermission, the score was tied at three, but Vanderbilt came out with a vengeance to start the second half, scoring two quick goals just a minute and a half into the period.
Sophomore Kristin Ehst was the star for the Commodores, scoring four goals and assisting on two more for six points in the match. Fellow classmate Sue Napolitano also had a good game, scoring twice and feeding the ball for three more goals. For Ohio State, Stacy Cook and Becky Gerhardt had two goals apiece.
