Vanderbilt Adds J.D. Hall to Football Staff;
Former UConn Assistant to Coach Offense 1/15/02
Former
Connecticut offensive assistant Jermaine "J.D." Hall has joined
the Vanderbilt football coaching staff, Commodore Head Coach
Bobby Johnson announced Tuesday.
Hall,
a 1993 graduate of Bethune-Cookman, served two years at Connecticut.
Prior to joining the Huskies, Hall served as quarterbacks
coach and recruiting coordinator at North Carolina A&T State
University in Greensboro.
Johnson said Hall will work with the Vanderbilt
offense, though no specific role has been determined. He joins
six others as newly appointed assistants to Johnson, who became
the Commodores' 25th head coach three weeks ago.
"We are fortunate to have J.D. on our staff.
He will be a great addition," Johnson said. "I think J.D.
is an outstanding young coach, truly one of the up-and-coming
young guys in our profession."
Previously, Johnson has named former Furman
defensive coordinator Bruce Fowler, former North Carolina
offensive line coach Robbie Caldwell, former Richmond offensive
coordinator Jimmy Kiser, former SMU defensive assistant Warren
Belin and former Furman offensive assistant Ted Cain to his
staff.
Hall was a three-year starter at quarterback
at Bethune-Cookman, playing for then-head coach and NFL Hall
of Famer Larry Little. He concluded his collegiate career
as the school's all-time leader in completions and attempts,
ranking second all-time in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference
in each category. His 7,154-yard passing total is third all-time
in the MEAC. Hall's jersey number, 12, is singled out as one
of Bethune-Cookman's "Famous Wildcat Numbers." He earned a
bachelor's degree in criminal justice.
Hall began his coaching career at North Carolina
Central University, serving as offensive coordinator for six
years before joining the North Carolina A&T staff in 1999.
He also handled instruction of quarterbacks and wide receivers
at North Carolina Central. North Carolina A&T captured the
1999 MEAC Championship with Hall serving as quarterbacks coach.
Last July Hall married the former Erin Dobson.
