Prospects
Morris, coming off a medical redshirt season, enjoyed an impressive
spring, and is in competition for substantial playing time
at CB. Still relatively new to the sport, Morris reacts quickly
to the ball. Could blossom with productive off-season weight
program. Likely to become more physical as he gains confidence.
2001
Granted medical redshirt status after suffering knee injury
versus Alabama... Played on defense and special teams against
Middle Tennessee.
High School
Captain as senior... Two-way starter as senior, seeing action
at CB, safety, WR and RB... Also started at CB as junior...
Team went 24-0, winning two state titles in his varsity years...
Did not play organized football until 11th grade... Named
first team All-State at RB and SS as senior, and All-Midstate
as junior and senior... Nominated for the Tennessee-Kentucky
All-Star Game.. Also was All-State selection in basketball,
averaging 18 points as forward for state champion... Won fifth
state champion as senior sprinter on MBA’s track and field
squad... Did not participate in sports in first two years
at MBA.
Academics
Morris is majoring in Human and Organization Development,
concentrating on the leadership track.
Personal
Only child of Constance and James Morris... Born April 12,
1983... “Nico”... Mom is clerk in federal bankruptcy court,
dad works for Tennessee Valley Authority... High school alma
mater located just a mile from Vanderbilt campus... Prep teammates
include VU LB Moses Osemwegie and Florida QB Ingle Martin...
Active in Nashville area church... Has worked in community
projects at MBA and Vanderbilt, including tutoring of young
children in the “Time To Rise” program... Spent three years
as cook and waiter with AAA baseball team Nashville Sounds...
Enjoys basketball and relaxing with friends.
