Prospects
An All-SEC freshman pick last season, Brunner is in the mix
for substantial playing time at middle linebacker in Vanderbilt’s
new 4-3 scheme. Will need to demonstrate blend of strength,
toughness and mental approach to take the critical LB role.

Named to Coaches’ All-SEC Freshman Team as LB... Started first
eight games and the season finale as ILB in 3-4 set... Played
in every game... Credited with 31 solo and 59 total tackles...
Tied for fifth on team in total tackles... Played well against
Alabama with nine tackles, then added double-digit tackles
versus Richmond (13) and Auburn (10). Added seven tackles
in finale against Ole Miss.

Named first team All-City by Cincinnati Post and Cincinnati
Inquirer... PrepStar Midwest team... Team captain... Two-year
starter at LB... As senior, achieved 142 tackles, 21 tackles
for a loss, four sacks and caused four fumbles... Nominated
to play in Ohio North-South All-Star Game... As junior, scored
two defensive TDs, including 87-yard INT return... Also played
basketball and wrestled in high school... Honor Roll selection...

as senior... Wrote for school newspaper.

Brunner plans to major in Human and Organizational Development,
and also is interested in communications in the College of
Arts and Science.

Son of Patrick and Karen Brunner... Born September 29, 1981...
Dad, a chiropractor, is a five-time participant in the Ironman
Triathlon in Hawaii... Also in father’s chiropractic business
is Ray Stricker Jr., older brother of WR Dan Stricker... Spends
part of summer on family farm in Indiana... Enjoys fishing,
riding four-wheelers and playing guitar.
