A record crowd of 1,547 fans helped usher in a new era
in Commodore baseball Saturday night when Hawkins Field
was officially dedicated. Hundreds of baseball alumni, family
and friends came to Nashville to catch a glimpse of the
new ballpark and witness the ceremony.
2002 Vanderbilt co-captains Sean Luellwitz and Karl Nonemaker,
along with Head Coach Roy Mewbourne, Director of Athletics
Todd Turner and Charlie Hawkins and Jimmy Miller took part
in a ribbon-cutting ceremony before the game. Multiple first
pitches were also thrown.
