As a Freshman (2002): Named to the Collegiate Baseball/Louisville
Slugger Freshman All-American Team as one of the 19 starting
pitchers and 71 players honored nationwide... Made 13 starts
in 15 appearances on the mound... Led all Commodore pitchers
in wins (six), ERA (4.37), innings pitched (101.0), strikeouts
(85) and pickoffs (12)... His 101.0 innings pitched set a
single-season record for VU freshmen hurlers while his 85
strikeouts were the third-most by a VU freshman pitcher in
school history... His 85 strikeouts ranked sixth-best in the
league among all pitchers and first among all freshmen hurlers...
Eighty of the 104 hits he surrendered were singles... Pitched
seven or more innings in 12 of 13 starts and registered a
pair of complete games... Led all SEC pitchers with 12 pickoffs...
Ranked fourth in the league with 85 strikeouts... Named SEC
Pitcher of the Week after he scattered four hits, two walks
and an earned run while striking out 10 at Louisville (2/24)
in his collegiate debut... Struck out a season-high 12 and
allowed only three hits in eight innings of work against Iowa
(3/2) in his Hawkins Field debut... Struck out 10 and gave
up six hits and two earned runs in a 9.0-inning no-decision
effort at Central Florida (3/8)... Scattered seven hits and
a walk while striking out eight against Mississippi State
(4/28) to post his first collegiate complete-game shutout
victory in his top conference performance... Helped guide
the Wareham Gatemen to the Cape Cop Baseball League championship
during the summer... Recorded a 5-4 record with a 1.52 ERA
and team-high 56 strikeouts during the regular season with
the Gatemen... Shared the Albert Bigelow Award for the team's

and Kentucky High School Coaches Association Athlete of the
Year as a senior at Ballard High School... Recorded a 10-2
record and 0.75 ERA, with 156 strikeouts, 18 walks and nine
earned runs in 89 innings as a senior... Threw 13 complete
games and eight shutouts in his final high school season...
Posted a 13-0 mark and 0.16 ERA with 129 strikeouts in 85.2
innings pitched as a junior... Threw 13 complete games with
seven shutouts as a junior... Tossed four career no-hitters

County Player of the Year while leading the team to consecutive
appearances in the state championship game as a junior and

July 2001, registering a 3-0 record and 0.00 ERA, with 28
