VINSE graduate student Owen Meilander, a Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Materials Science working under the direction of Professor Mona Ebrish, received the Best Student Poster Presentation Award at the 2025 Lester Eastman Conference on High Performance Devices, held August 11–12 at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.
His poster, “Gate Leakage Suppression of Enhancement Mode GaN HEMTs on Engineered Substrate,” was recognized as the top student presentation at the conference. The Lester Eastman Conference on High Performance Devices has highlighted the physics and performance of devices and circuits for high-speed, high- frequency, high-power, and ultra-low-power devices, as well as optoelectronics and other emerging material and device technologies for more than 2 decades.
Meilander’s recognition underscores the impact of Vanderbilt’s research in wide bandgap group III-nitrides and ultra-wide bandgap devices and reflects the innovative work being carried out in the Ebrish Lab.
