Xiaoguang Dong wins NSF Career Award

Xiaoguang Dong, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, has received a $622,769 NSF CAREER Award to advance research on magnetic miniature soft robots for precision medicine. His work will integrate wireless microfluidics to enable these tiny robots to perform complex tasks like targeted drug delivery and liquid biopsies, improving early disease detection and treatment. The NSF CAREER Award is one of the most prestigious and competitive honors for early-career faculty. Dong’s project also includes new educational initiatives and outreach programs, including a new undergraduate course on bioinspired robotics, and an outreach program to public high schools.
