Currently, many philolosophy discussions are concerned with issues of algorithms, such as transparency, publicity, manipulation, accountability, and fairness. While I believe these discussions are very important, I want to distinguish questions about algorithms themselves and qustions about how to use AI. Specifically, I’m interested in the field of AI governance, focusing on the potential role of AI agents in democratic decision-making without significantly sacrificing core elements of democracy.

VALIANT’s emphasis on translational AI fits my research direction as I aim to find a democratic use of AI. Specifically, its two mentorship program would help me refine my argument to be sensible both to philosophers and computer scientists, expanding the applicability of my project.
