As a first year PhD student, I have two projects in mind:
First, I would evaluate the influence of quantifiable environmental factors on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). I plan to integrate, harmonize, and analyze these diverse data sets using techniques like autoencoders and neural networks. My goal is to uncover patterns that could deepen our understanding of how environmental variables contribute to ALS.
The second project I would search for potential biomarkers by analyzing brain MRI images from ALS patients. With neural networks, I would extract and interpret features from these images, which could lead to the identification of biomarkers and improve diagnostic and prognostic for ALS.
