Module FAQs

Students, you may find information that pertains to the online module program in this section.

  • I do not work with minors at Vanderbilt. Do I still have to complete Protecting Youth: Building a Culture of Safety or the Protection of Minors Annual Renewal modules?

    All undergraduate students and most graduate/professional school students are required to complete Protecting Youth: Building a Culture of Safety when they enter the university. Those students who work with minors in student programs, organizations, or through employment at Vanderbilt must annually complete an educational renewal module on protecting minors.

  • I completed one or more of these modules for another institution or organization. Do I need to complete it again?

    Yes, you will need to complete these modules as a function of your student status at Vanderbilt. The modules and content may vary by institution and it is important that you learn the expectations, standards, and resources that are specific to the Vanderbilt community.

  • I completed one or more of the modules I was assigned when I was an undergraduate at Vanderbilt or in a different program and am now enrolled in graduate/professional school. Do I need to complete it again?

    If you have been assigned a module to complete, it has been intentionally assigned. We do exempt module completion requirements for those with conferred Vanderbilt degrees, so if you have a conferred degree but are returning to Vanderbilt, you likely were exempted and do not have modules to complete if you have not received an email from @safecolleges.com. If you feel you have been assigned a module in error and did complete modules in a prior VU program, please email SAcompliance@vanderbilt.edu and we can assess your specific enrollment situation and module history.

  • What should I do if I do not have access to a computer?

    If you are away from campus, try locating a library that offers computer and internet access. If you are on campus, you can visit the computer kiosks available in our student centers or utilize the computers and laptops available through our library systems.

    Note: These modules are not fully compatible with mobile devices, so please utilize the resources outlined here or contact sacompliance@vanderbilt.edu if you need further assistance.

  • I am currently living outside of the United States of America and cannot access the modules.

    Please send an email to sacompliance@vanderbilt.edu stating your current location, which modules you are unable to access, and when you will arrive in the United States. Supplemental resources and/or an extension may be granted, however, you will continue to receive reminder emails until you complete the modules.

  • I am experiencing technical difficulties completing the Anchored in Our Values Learning Series. What should I do?

    Try the following troubleshooting options and see if the problem is resolved:

    • If you are attempting to complete the module on a phone or tablet, try using a laptop or desktop.
    • Switch browsers. Use Chrome, Firefox, or Safari.
    • Update your browser to the most recent version.
    • Update your computer, install latest updates, and restart.
    • Clear your cache. For information on how to do this, visit www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser’s-Cache.
    • If you seem stuck, your screen may be zoomed in too much causing you to miss a prompt or navigation button. To reset your zoom on a PC hit “control 0 (zero)” and on a Mac hit “command 0 (zero)”.
    • Close all other applications and tabs (i.e., iTunes, Facebook, YouTube, etc.)
    • Make sure you are in full screen mode. For Windows, press F11. On a Mac, click “View” from the browser’s menu and select “Full Screen”.
    • Ensure the module is in its own browser window, not within a frame of the school portal or email client.
    • Reboot the computer.
    • If you are on a wireless connection, try a wired connection.
    • Disable all popup blockers and 3rd party toolbars.
    • Try accessing from a different computer.
    • Try accessing the program from a different network connection (e.g., computer lab, home, town library etc.).
    • Try accessing at a different time of day (i.e., during your network’s off-peak internet usage hours).

    If you continue to experience issues after trying the above troubleshooting options, open a support ticket with Vector technical support services.

  • How do I log back into the Anchored in Our Values Learning Series?

    To log back into these modules:

  • What are the minimum system requirements for completing the Anchored in Our Values Learning Series?

    A modern web browser and, when applicable, the Adobe Flash plus-in (usually included with the browser) are required. 

    Full technology specifications:

    • RAM: 1 GB+
    • Browsers: Courses are best supported by the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (preferred), or Microsoft Internet Explorer 11+
    • Tablets: As with all web-based products, you may find different levels of success depending on the age of your tablet and software. While we recommend the following minimum requirements, it is not possible for us to test all device models and software combinations. For this reason, we cannot guarantee a perfect experience on your particular model, and highly recommend you test the course on your device to determine if it is compatible.
      • iOS version 9.0 or later running on iPad 2 or later (please use Safari). Android version 4.4+ (KitKat) or later
      • Note: We do not support smartphones at this time. The courses may work on them, but we do not develop or test against them so they are not recommended.
    • Flash Player: Please note some browsers may require Adobe Flash for multimedia content
    • Screen Resolution: Minimum resolution 1024×768 is required. 1280×1024 or higher is preferred.
    • Audio/Video: Sound card with either speakers or headphones.
    • Bandwidth: If you do not have broadband and you are using dial-up connection, you will have difficulty using our courses. Each course loads and plays videos and other media on the pages. Broadband connection (e.g. DSL, cable modem or FIOS) with 1Mbps bandwidth or better required; dial-up connections will seriously impede full functionality and viewing multimedia content.
    • Screen Readers: Mac with Voice Over and Internet Explorer with JAWS
  • I have a medical condition that requires assistance accessing these modules. What should I do?

    For assistance accessing these modules due to a medical condition, please contact Student Affairs Compliance at sacompliance@vanderbilt.edu or Student Access at disabilityservices@vanderbilt.edu. If you are experiencing any technical issues accessing the Anchored in Our Values Learning Series, please open a support ticket with Vector.

  • How will I know which module I need to complete?

    All students will receive an email sent by @SafeColleges.com with a subject of “Mandatory Anchored in Our Values Learning Series to Complete” with information about the module programs they have been assigned and deadlines. When a student logs in to the Vector platform, they are brought to a My Assignments tab that includes the required modules and direct access to them for completion.
