Education

An education “ecosystem” is envisioned to provide Sterling Ranch residents with an array of school choices, including neighborhood, charter, and magnet schools and private schools that are pegged to parents’ educational interests. The Sterling Ranch-Vanderbilt/Peabody College collaborative will integrate a new educational master plan with innovative Sterling Ranch design features – including space planning and architectural design; energy and natural resource conservation; information technology; and outdoor sports and recreation. The TIPs grant will support research activities for undergraduate Peabody honors students over a three-year grant period, including a research seminar, in-residence summer data collection that involves stakeholder interviews and GIS asset mapping, and report writing. In year three, we anticipate developing a Capstone project that engages a team of Peabody College Ed.D. doctoral students in a year-long field study of the Sterling Ranch and Douglas County education programs following implementation and early results of the new school designs.
