What is Vanderbilt’s Role?
Vanderbilt University has partnered with Sterling Ranch, engaging with the local community and Sterling Ranch’s planning, engineering and technology providers, to collaborate on research, development, design and implementation of environmentally and user friendly sustainable systems and technology.
Sterling Ranch provides a unique immersion learning opportunity, where undergraduate students, graduate students and faculty are challenged to envision the future and use their creativity to contribute to the future.
Vanderbilt students will benefit from vertical integration of higher education where undergraduate students, graduate students, and faculty work together in multi-disciplinary teams within and beyond the classroom.
Sterling Ranch will provide the basis for undergraduate research, honors projects, and engineering design experiences, along with doctoral research projects. Examples and lessons learned from the Sterling Ranch and challenges from reinventing aging cities will bring real-life challenges into the classroom.
