CommonVU Orientation

The 2025 CommonVU Orientation schedule will be available August 1.

For fall of 2024 CommonVU Orientation will begin on Move-In Day, Saturday, August 17. The required CommonVU Orientation (August 17-24, 2024) offers activities and programs for first-year students to introduce you to the living-learning communities of your houses and The Ingram Commons, the faculties and academic classes of your schools, the norms and values of the Vanderbilt community, upper-division students and their organizations, and Nashville. Additionally, you will meet your student and faculty VUceptors who will serve as guides throughout your first semester at Vanderbilt.

Directions to 25th Avenue Garage

Parents and Family Orientation will be offered in Langford Auditorium on Saturday, August 17 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. Shuttle service will be offered from The Ingram Commons and the Terrace Place Garage to Langford Auditorium. If you would prefer to drive yourself, parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage. Please follow the below instructions to reach the garage. Note that this garage is near the VA Hospital. Please do not park in the VA Hospital parking as this does not belong to Vanderbilt University.

From Lot 77

  1. Take a right turn out of Lot 77 onto Deford Bailey Avenue.
  2. Take an immediate left onto 18th Avenue South.
  3. Drive 0.3 miles and turn right onto Wedgewood Avenue.
  4. Drive 0.8 miles and turn right onto 24th Avenue South.
  5. Drive until you reach Highland Avenue. Turn left.
  6. Enter the 25th Avenue garage by turning left off of Highland Avenue.
  7. Follow the posted signage to walk to Langford Auditorium (approximately 5-8 minute walk).

Do NOT enter the garage from 24th Avenue. This portion of the garage does not belong to Vanderbilt University and cars parked there will be towed or fined.

From Terrace Place Garage (6-minute drive) 

  1. Turn left out of Terrace Place garage and drive 229 feet to 20th Avenue South.
  2. Turn left onto 20th Avenue South.
  3. Drive 0.1 miles to West End Avenue. Turn left.
  4. Drive 0.7 miles and turn left onto 25th Avenue South.
  5. Continue driving straight until you reach Garland Avenue and turn left.
  6. At the stop sign, turn right onto 24th Avenue.
  7. At the following stop sign, turn right onto Highland Avenue.
  8. Enter the 25th Avenue garage by turning left off of Highland Avenue.
  9. Follow the posted signage to walk to Langford Auditorium (approximately 5-8 minute walk).
