Paul Velazquez

Commander, United States Navy

A native of Los Angeles, California, CDR Paul Velazquez is a 2005 graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles and a 2012 graduate of the Naval Postgraduate School.

His sea duty assignments include Division Officer tours as Electrical Officer, Ordnance Officer, and Auxiliaries Officer aboard USS CURTS (FFG 38), and Department Head tours as Combat Systems Officer in USS VANDEGRIFT (FFG 48) and Training and Readiness Officer (N7) for Commander, Amphibious Squadron FIVE. CDR Velazquez completed his Executive Officer (Special Mission) tour as Damage Control Assistant aboard USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN 69).

Ashore, CDR Velazquez has served as Flag Aide/Protocol Officer to Commander, US Naval Forces Korea and completed a Master’s Degree in National Security Affairs (Middle East/Sub-Saharan Africa) at the Naval Postgraduate School. CDR Velazquez has also served as Resource Sponsor for amphibious ships at OPNAV N95, Special Assistant to the Under Secretary of the Navy, and as Speechwriter to three Secretaries of the Navy. CDR Velazquez was most recently Wargaming Branch Chief at U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.
