Tonya Elkins

MIHOW Director

Tonya has been the director of the MIHOW program since 2007. Previously, she was a MIHOW site leader in Nashville, TN. She has a Master's of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee. Her past work experience includes community organizing, case work with Hispanic families, resettlement work with immigrant and refugee families, and emergency assistance. She enjoys traveling and has three precocious children.

Anais Riggs

Senior Program Coordinator

Anais Riggs has over 28 years in the Social Services field within the nonprofit sector. Throughout her journey, she has remained steadfast in her commitment to empowering families to discover their inner strength and achieve independence and success.

For the past 16 years, Anais has served as a Site Leader in the MIHOW Program, demonstrating her commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others. She embraces the MIHOW program's mission to empower families and believes that every child and family possesses the inherent potential to realize their dreams and aspirations.

Her efforts are focused on providing comprehensive support and fostering an environment where individuals can flourish and thrive. Anais holds a Master's of Science Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with a minor in Psychology.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Anais finds joy and fulfillment in spending quality time with her family and beloved pets. She understands the importance of cultivating meaningful connections and nurturing relationships both in and outside the workplace, and she embodies this philosophy in all aspects of her life.

Nonie Roberts

MIHOW Trainer

Nonie lives in West Virginia and has worked with MIHOW for more than 30 years. During many of those years, Nonie also served as a childbirth educator and coordinator of a perinatal program at the New River Health Association in Scarbro, WV. Nonie trains new outreach workers to connect with families, actively listen, and help participants have healthy pregnancies and prepare for labor and delivery.

Nonie earned her Bachelor's Degree in Counseling from Marshall University, and then continued her education in Family Therapy at the Family Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Nonie loves the MIHOW program because it has such a positive focus. Nonie has 1 dog, 3 adult children, and 3 beautiful grandchildren who absorb most of her time these days.
