LIVE Spaces

LIVE offers specialized research spaces to support studies of learning, technology development, and human–technology interaction, along with flexible meeting rooms for collaboration and events. Explore available spaces, reservation options, and access requirements below.

LIVE Research Spaces

The following specialized research spaces are available for community use, in consultation with the responsible LIVE faculty:

  • Engage AI Lab Space [A2004]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Main Floor | Next to the kitchenette 

    Primary Investigator: Gautam Biswas

    Room Capacity ~ 25 people

    This research space encourages collaborative learning. This space has several tables, with retractable monitors installed at each table. Typically, the room is set up with chairs at each workstation. The workstations cannot be moved around. 

    This space does have a projector and speakers. The room is mic’d and recorded. A laptop is not provided.

    No food is allowed unless approved by the PI in advanced. 

  • HIVE Research Space [A2010]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Main Floor | Across from the kitchenette 

    Primary Investigator: Noel Enyedy

    Room Capacity ~ 25 people

    This research space helps learners understand embodied learning, so there are minimal chairs and desks. Typically, the room is set up with the chairs & tables against the walls to allow for an open learning environment concept.

    The room does have several monitors to make up one large monitor and speakers. The room is mic’d and recorded. A laptop is not provided.

    No food is allowed unless approved by the PI in advanced. 

  • IDEA Research Space [A3002F]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Third Floor | Inside Suite 3002

    Primary Investigator: Golnaz Arastoopour Irgens

    Room Capacity: ~ 28 people

    The IDEA Lab designs socially just and inclusive digital learning environments in engineering, computer science, and computational statistics. They develop and implement innovative, equity-minded analytics to better understand student learning.

    The space is set up with tables and chairs. There is a projector and speakers. A laptop is not provided. The room must be put back exactly how it was upon arrival.

    No food is allowed unless approved by the PI in advanced. 

  • Virtual Reality Cave [A3002L]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Third Floor | Inside Suite 3002

    Primary Investigator: Mark Wallace

    Room Capacity: 6 

    Cave Capacity: 1

    The Virtual Reality (VR) Cave is part of the MELD consortium and is used to investigate how multisensory development unfolds over time. The lab has several specially designed tasks within naturalistic, immersive environments to capture rich data about how people integrate sensory information.

    Seeing the cave and getting a demo is encouraged. Using the cave for a project may require an associated grant or credit allocation. 

    Food and drinks are not allowed in the room or in the cave.

Request a Research Space Reservation

To request a reservation, email LIVE with your request. You will need to include the room, date, time and need/purpose for use of the specialized research space.

Training may be required prior to use.

LIVE Meeting Spaces

LIVE meeting spaces can be self-booked by community members for up to one hour by using Microsoft Bookings. For reoccurring meetings and meetings lasting more than one hour, email LIVE for approval.

  • LIVE Seminar Room [A2009]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Main Floor

    Room Capacity: ~ 32 students

    The LIVE Seminar Room is set up with a projector & speakers. A laptop is not provided. 

    There are also dry-erase boards but participants will need to provide their own dry-erase markers and ensure the boards are cleared after use. The room MUST be put back as it was originally when the event is over. 

    Food is allowed but must be cleaned up once the event is over. 

  • LIVE Small Conference Room [A3002E]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Third Floor | Inside Suite 3002

    Room Capacity ~ 12 people

    There is a monitor with USB-C capabilities. Laptops are not provided. Room layout cannot be changed.

    There are also dry-erase boards but participants will need to provide their own dry-erase markers and ensure the boards are cleared after use. 

    Food is allowed but must be cleaned up once the event is over. 

  • LIVE Large Conference Room [A3001]

    Location: 1400 18th AVE S | Third Floor | Next to the elevators

    Room Capacity: ~ 15 people 

    A portable projector is available upon request. A laptop is not provided. The room cannot be changed to be a different layout.

    Food is allowed but must be cleaned up once the event is over.

You can book any one of our LIVE spaces for one hour by using Microsoft Bookings.

Reoccurring meetings and meetings lasting more than one hour will need prior approval. Please email LIVE@vanderbilt.edu for approvals.
