Exploring Generative AI

Project at a Glance

This research initiative investigates the responsible integration of generative AI and augmented intelligence technologies in K-12 classroom environments, with a focus on ethics, human-centered design, and educational enhancement.

The core research questions examine:

  • How can we intentionally deploy AI as a tool for learning augmentation rather than human replacement? What ethical frameworks guide responsible AI use in educational settings?
  • How do educators and students collaborate creatively with generative AI while maintaining critical thinking and human agency?
  • What classroom experiments and pedagogical approaches foster beneficial, rather than extractive or destructive, applications of social AI?

Through classroom-based research, lectures, and collaborative experiments, we explore models for integrating augmented intelligence into teaching and learning—emphasizing intelligence amplification, responsible creativity, and educational impact.

Our work prioritizes human-centered approaches that preserve student agency, critical thinking, and ethical awareness while investigating genuine opportunities for learning enhancement. We focus deliberately on how to make AI integration intentional, constructive, and aligned with educational values rather than defaulting to disruptive or problematic applications.

Faculty, educators, and researchers interested in investigating these questions or proposing classroom-based AI research projects are encouraged to contact Prof. Molvig.
