From Internship to Impact

Immersion Vanderbilt Faculty Adviser: Fatima Kola, Medicine, Health & Society

Pathway: Internships

Ingrid Sorin (Medicine, Health & Society, Class of '26) explored the intersection of clinical research, patient advocacy, and healthcare policy through a Clinical Operations Internship with Biohaven Pharmaceuticals. Working on Biohaven’s Degrader program and conducting research on rare disease communities, Ingrid engaged with both clinical trial data and the lived experiences of patients and families navigating complex health conditions.

Her Immersion Vanderbilt project culminated in a research paper exploring the relationship between patient narratives and rare disease advocacy, as well as collaborative research accepted for presentation at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE). These experiences solidified her commitment to improving healthcare systems and inspired her next step: pursuing a Master of Healthcare Administration at Johns Hopkins University.
