Whether you’re moving across town or across the globe, Vanderbilt provides resources and education on living off campus to support your transition so you can focus on thriving in your new academic community.
Beyond immediate housing support, our program strengthens the community through providing personalized guidance, hosting webinars and housing fairs, giving presentations, tabling events, and collaborating with departments across campus. By addressing both the practical and emotional needs that come with relocation, we help create a more connected, resilient, and empowered community—one where every individual feels seen, supported, and positioned for long‑term success.
Guidance is available to graduate students, professional students, postdoctoral scholars, staff, and faculty. For additional information or to initiate collaboration, please contact Kayla Austin at wellbeing@vanderbilt.edu.
Vanderbilt University is committed to following all federal and local laws to ensure equal housing opportunities for all students, faculty, and staff. Our practices adhere to the principles of fairness, integrity, and nondiscrimination, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, familial status, or any other protected characteristic.
Start by submitting your housing or relocation inquiry to wellbeing@vanderbilt.edu. Our Program Manager will review your needs and reach out to schedule a virtual meeting with you to gather more information.
We’ll help you identify off‑campus housing options based on your budget, needs, and lifestyle preferences. You’ll receive curated recommendations and resources to make comparing options easy.
Once you’ve chosen your preferred housing, we’ll continue to support you and answer questions, if needed. Our goal is to make securing your new home as stress‑free as possible.
We provide relocation resources designed to support you as you prepare for your transition. Whether you are moving from across town or arriving from another country, we offer guidance. Our goal is to ensure you have the information and support you need to arrive confident and prepared.
Once you move in, our team continues to support you throughout your transition. We provide resources to help you get oriented to campus, events that can teach you about living in Nashville and the surrounding areas, and guidance for any housing‑related questions that come up. We're here to help you feel comfortable with your living situation from your very first day.
