Oct. 8, 2020 – On-campus housing for winter break

Posted by on Thursday, October 8, 2020 in Community Messages.

Dear Vanderbilt students,

We have received questions regarding the university’s plans to accommodate students who will need to remain on campus after the university closes on Nov. 22 for winter break.

Please know the university always supports residential students with demonstrated financial need. We will provide support through our normal mechanisms (financial aid, waivers, hardship fund grants, etc.) to students who are approved to remain in on-campus housing and have financial challenges over the extended winter break. We are not decreasing and will not decrease that support.

Again, various categories of students, such as homeless students, student-athletes in competition, international students and Peabody College students pursuing teaching licensure, may apply to remain in housing over the break by applying in the Student Housing Portal beginning Oct. 15.

The well-being and success of our students remain our top priority. We are committed to doing all that we can to support students during this incredibly challenging time.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to my office if you have additional questions and concerns.

Sincerely,

Mark Bandas
Associate Provost and Dean of Students
