Why data science? Versatility of Domain was one of my main reasons for choosing data science as well as the capability to segue into Artificial Intelligence over time. Domains that I’m interested in include Economics and Logistics (I’ve a vested interest in the stock market and the export business) and Image Reconstruction.

Why did you choose Vanderbilt? Curriculum was my primary reason – The courses were not re-purposed Computer Science and Statistics courses and were tailor made. Vanderbilt being a top research university also played into by decision as I’d like to be exposed/involved in a variety of projects during my time here. Oh, and Nashville was a factor as well – It’s a city that’s unlike anywhere I’ve lived in before!

What are your hobbies / what do you enjoy doing outside of work and academics? I play video games – both casually and competitively. RPG is my favorite genre – Both Modern and Old-school CRPGs. I also like watching anime and TV Shows. I do a healthy bit of reading as well – Retro-Futurism, Cyberpunk and High/Dark Fantasy are among go-to genres.
