Miya Hugaboom is a rising senior majoring in Molecular and Cellular Biology and Medicine, Health, and Society. Working with Dr. Antonis Rokas, Miya will use evolutionary data science approaches to assemble and align mitochondrial genomes of fungal species to infer their evolutionary history and to investigate the presence of distinguishing variants between pathogenic and non-pathogenic species.
