
Maria Fernanda Senosain Ortega
Mafe is a senior Cancer Biology PhD student working in Dr. Carlos Lopez laboratory. She was born and raised in Lima, Peru where she received her B.S. in Biology from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia. Mafe’s project aims to investigate early lung adenocarcinoma behavior through the integration of biological, clinical and radiomics data to improve the discrimination between indolent and aggressive tumors which in turn may offer novel and personalized avenues for intervention. During her doctoral training, she discovered her passion for data analytics and has acquired experience in computational biology and data science, allowing her to pursue opportunities in these fields. She did an internship in bioinformatics at the biotech company Arcus Biosciences. She was awarded the Chateaubriand Fellowship to continue her bioinformatics research in France where she worked under the guidance of Dr. Vera Pancaldi. She was recently selected to be part of Data Science For All / Empowerment, a competitive data analytics training program offered by Correlation One. In her free time, Mafe enjoys working out, reading and traveling.
