Curb Scholars Program Details
Curb Scholars Program is an undergraduate scholarship for students who work at the intersection of creativity, entrepreneurship, and public engagement. The focal point of the Curb Scholars meetings aligns with the Curb Center semester theme.
Curb Scholars will engage with presenters who relate to this focal point multiple times per year to aid in networking and enhance exposure to the intersection of the arts & social justice. Meetings include guest visits, field trips, discussions, creative practice workshops, and project design sessions. Curb Scholars meet with Curb staff members to discuss individual creative goals, Curb project plans and professional plans.
Inspired by the career of Mike Curb—philanthropist, founder of Curb Records, and former lieutenant governor of California—the program aims to develop leaders committed to combining diverse perspectives and innovative techniques for the public good.
Curb Scholars are selected on the basis of commitment to creative ideas, an entrepreneurial spirit, strength of personal character, and leadership potential. In evaluating candidates, the Curb Scholar selection committee reviews the applicant’s Curb Scholarship application and Vanderbilt application for first-year admission.
Depending on the size of the total scholar group, rising sophomores may also accepted into the program. The application process for rising sophomores occurs during the spring semester.

Curb Scholars Alumni Network
The Curb Center is working to create an alumni network, enabling past and present scholars to remain connected. As current Curb Scholars plan their future careers, Curb Scholar alumni visit with the Curb Scholars each year to share relevant experiences and offer advice and expertise.
Are you a Curb Scholar alum interested in becoming part of the network? Would you be willing to serve as a mentor to the Curb Scholars? We invite you to participate as we grow the program for Curb Scholars past and present. Contact Curb Center Associate Director Molly Barth at molly.a.barth@vanderbilt.edu with any alumni network questions and join the Curb Scholars Alumni LinkedIn group.
