VU FAN (Facility Alert Notification) sends messages to the delivery points the user has chosen—cell phone (voice or text), land line, and Vanderbilt email account—in the event of a planned or unplanned utility outage that affects your building or any other buildings you select.
Examples of planned outages include but are not limited to planned elevator maintenance or heating loss (steam). Unexpected events may also occur if a water line is hit during construction for example, and FAN is designed to alert you as soon as possible. Alerts will begin being sent on May 1st starting with a test message. The previous outage notification emails that were sent to everyone regardless of location will be discontinued on June 1st.
