Lucas Mburu

Lucas Waweru Mburu is a Ph.D. student at Vanderbilt University. He hails from Kenya, Africa. He loves Jesus and is an ordained minister of the Gospel serving with the Presbyterian Church of East Africa – Kenya. He holds an MA(TS) degree from Colombia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia; a Bachelor of Theology from Presbyterian University of East Africa, Kikuyu, Kenya; and a Bachelor of Technology from Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya.

Lucas’s research interests gravitate toward reading Jesus’s words in the New Testament. He seeks to study Jesus’s words as Jesus’s affirmation that God created every human with inalienable dignity and agency. He anticipates that the study will foster a scholarship that will heal his Kenyan society characterized by a socio-economic divide, which compromises the dignity and agency of the masses.
