Graduate Scholars
In the fall of 1990, we established the Graduate Scholar Program in direct response
to the recommendation that "graduate students' interactions with undergraduate students be
nurtured", made by the September 1989 Ad Hoc Committee on the Quality of Undergraduate Life.
Graduate Scholars are graduate students who have been specially
trained to support the University's educational programming efforts in the residence halls.
Graduate Scholars live in undergraduate halls and share lounges, study space and bath
facilities with undergraduate students.
Graduate Scholars work to:
- establish a positive academic setting in the residence halls
- develop an atmosphere conducive to study
- provide positive role models for members of the undergraduate community
- tutor individual students; conduct group study sessions
- coordinate programs designed to facilitate interaction between students and faculty members
Graduate Scholars frequently participate in social, recreational and educational
activities and programs held in the residence halls.
