Resident Advisors
Resident Advisors are Vanderbilt juniors, seniors, or graduate students living in each
residence hall. These students have been carefully selected for their
leadership ability, interpersonal skills, and desire to enhance the residence
hall community, and they undergo extensive training prior to the start of the
academic year. RAs assist students with personal and academic concerns and act
as resource persons to residents by serving as liaisons between the University
and students. They plan and promote social, educational, and academic hall programs
that contribute to the overall education of residents. These programs may include group
discussions, guest speakers, and trips to cultural events.
Reeves
Reeves are Vanderbilt students who work at desks located at the front entrance of
each residence hall and serve as resource persons for residents and guests.
Most Reeve desks are staffed twenty-four hours a day during the academic year.
Reeves act as a source of information for visitors, observe the flow of students
and their guests into the buildings, monitor the fire and door alarm panels
and notify the appropriate individuals when an alarm is activated. Reeves are
authorized to call RAs or VUPD in emergency situations.
