Living/Learning Centers
Students may apply to live in one of Vanderbilt's living/learning
centers. The application process for these centers occurs prior to the regular housing
selection processes. Students whose applications are denied may still participate,
without penalty, in the regular housing selection process.
Year-round Housing
for International Students
International students may apply for year-round housing in Carmichael
Tower East or Lewis House. The application process for year-round housing
is held prior to the general random selection.
General Random Selection
All rooms still available after the living/learning center application
process, the year-round housing selection, apartment reservations,
and local selections will be assigned in the general random selections.
The general random selection process is based on a system of seniority
points where students with greater seniority have greater points. Students with greater points select rooms before students with fewer points. When there is a tie in points, the tie is broken by a random selection procedure referred to by students as "the lottery.":
- Seniority
Students entering their 4th year or greater of study in fall 2008 will have 4 points. Students entering their 3rd year or greater of study in fall 2008 will have 3 points. Students entering their 2nd year or greater of study in fall 2008 will have 2 points. Groups of students
are awarded group point totals which are determined by summing the points
assigned to each member of the group. The order of selection for groups
with the same point total is determined by a random selection.
