Current Opportunities at Vanderbilt

Postdoctoral Fellowship in Addiction Heterogeneity at Vanderbilt University

Department Psychology
Full Description

The Mechanisms of Addiction and Psychopathology (MAP Lab) directed by Dr. Ashley L. Watts in the Department of Psychology at Vanderbilt University is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral research fellow. The lab’s research program focuses on sources of heterogeneity in addiction, and the mechanisms responsible for its comorbidity with other forms of psychopathology (see a general description here). In particular, the MAP Lab is interested in bringing on a postdoctoral research fellow that would contribute to the lab’s research on phenotypic, genetic, and otherwise neurobiological sources of heterogeneity in alcohol addiction. The postdoctoral research fellow will support a funded NIAAA R00 project (4R00AA028306-03).

The postdoctoral research fellow would be responsible for cleaning, processing, and analyzing existing data; publishing scientific manuscripts; and presenting at scientific meetings. The postdoctoral research fellow would also be supported in the submission of mentored grant applications (e.g., F32, K01, K99/R00). Finally, the postdoctoral research fellow may also aid in ongoing data collection efforts, facilitate execution of other ongoing studies, and supervise graduate and undergraduate students where these tasks are relevant to their research.

The successful applicant will join Ashley Watts and an active research team. There will be ample opportunities for collaboration, advanced training (e.g., VU is home to top-tier quantitative methods and data science instruction and a massive genomic database), building mentorship experience, and developing an independent research program. This position is ideal position for someone interested in preparing for a tenure-track job.
