1. All applications must include a budget. The budget should use Vanderbilt’s per diem rate for meals. 
2. All full-time, VU-employed (Provost-reporting) faculty are eligible. 
3. Faculty may submit one global travel application per year. 
4. Awards are based partly on need. As a result, each participating faculty member must disclose institutional resources available in the form of start-up funds or other discretionary research and professional development funds. All institutional research-support funds, including endowed chair funds, annual allocations, and other such sources, must be noted. 
5. Supplemental and/or matching funds from schools and departments are strongly encouraged. 
6. All funds must be used within the fiscal year in which the funding is awarded (that is, no carry forward). 
7. In order to receive funds, faculty must include documentation of their participation/acceptance in the application (e.g., link to conference programs or professional development meetings/workshops).
8. Recipients must provide an update on the status of their research, including a brief statement and any relevant images, by the end of the spring semester. 

Proposals that include the following criteria will be viewed favorably:

• It shows a need beyond existing internal funding
• It proposes a conference or workshop that is significant in the applicant's field of study and will pull attendants from numerous global settings
• It reflects a meaningful investment from the proposers’ research.

Proposals are reviewed once per semester. Award decisions will be made by the end of the semester in which you apply.

• Proposals must include documentation of participation or acceptance
• Applications must disclose internal funds available to them
• Proposals must provide a short description of the conference or professional development meeting and its impact in the field

The Vice Provost of Global Engagement supports proposals up to $3,000.

Awarded funds may only be used in the fiscal year for which they are applied.

The Global Engagement Travel Grants can be used for: 

• Travel (airfare, hotels, ground transportation abroad, visas, if required for travel) 
• Conference or Meeting Registration Fees
