Talk by Elinor Ostrom, Nobel Laureate in Economics
On Thursday, March 1 at 4 pm at the Bishop Joseph Johnson Black Cultural Center, Elinor Ostrum, Nobel Laureate in Economics and Arthur F. Bentley Professor of Political Science at Indiana University, will speak. Her talk is titled “Updating the Theory of Collective Action and the Commons.”
Professor Ostrom is the first woman to win the prize in economics, which has been awarded since 1969. Ostrom and her colleagues at the Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis at Indiana University developed the Institutional Analysis and Development framework, which enables them to analyze diversely structured markets, hierarchies, common-property regimes and local public economies using a common set of universal components.
