Program Overview
In this study center program, students study music history and performance in Vienna, a bridge between a myriad of cultures, and home to many of history's greatest composers, from Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven to Brahms, Mahler, and Schoenberg. The city offers a multitude of cultural destinations, such as Schonbrunn Palace, Belvedere Place, and the Schonbrunn Zoo. Students live in a shared apartment near the study center. IES Abroad also offers field trips to closeby destinations throughout the summer abroad.
Students will enroll in two to four courses in Music History, Performance Studies, and/or German language for a total of 6-10 credits (an extra fee applies for students taking more than 6 credits). German language instruction is optional, and beginning German is available for students with less than one year of college-level German.
PLEASE NOTE: Blair students interested in applying for this program must meet with Dean Brian Utley in Blair. There is a form in your VU study abroad application that he will need to sign prior to the VU application deadline.
