Program Overview

The Kyoto Consortium for Japanese Studies (KCJS) is a consortium-based study center program that provides semester or full academic-year learning for students who wish to do advanced work in Japanese language and Japanese studies. Applicants must have one-year college level Japanese for Fall enrollment or three semesters of Japanese for Spring enrollment. In this program, students will strengthen Japanese language skills through the intensive Japanese language course, community-involvement project, and regular interactions with local students. Students will also further their understanding of Japanese culture and society through the English-taught electives, optional homestay, and extracurricular activities.

KCJS is centrally located in Kyoto on the Imadegawa campus of Doshisha University, bounded on the south by the Imperial Palace grounds, and to the northeast by Shokokuji temple.
