BCC Student and Family Welcome and Harambee March

As a part of the Vanderbilt Move-In Day activities, the center hosts the BCC Family Welcome and Harambee March. This cultural and community-building program celebrates incoming first-year students and honors their accomplishments of joining the Vanderbilt community. First-year students who participate in Vanderbilt will march from a designated area on campus into the BCC, all to the beat of African drummers and the cheers of upper-division students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The event includes food, tours of the BCC, and resource tables featuring student organizations advised by the BCC and various campus partners. This is also an opportunity to ask questions about life on campus to students within the community.

Welcome Back Soul Food Luncheon

As a part of the opening of school and the beginning of fall classes, the BCC hosts the VU community with a Welcome Back Soul Food Luncheon. The luncheon is a wonderful community building program where faculty, staff, and students come together to meet and welcome our new students. This program also serves as an opportunity for the BCC to unveil its fall calendar and highlight upcoming programs, BCC resources and introduce the staff, student assistants and our BCC Ambassa’Dores.
