| Full Description | We would like to invite applications for a Postdoctoral fellowship in Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Departments of Medicine, Biostatistics, and the Vanderbilt Lung Institute (VLI) within the Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine. The VLI's Pulmonary Fibrosis Research Group is a multidisciplinary, multi-investigator group of basic, translational and clinical scientists studying the natural history and underlying disease mechanisms of Pulmonary Fibrosis. We operate several large prospective cohort studies of well-characterized patients with pulmonary fibrosis, including the Familial Pulmonary Fibrosis Registry, which has been continuously funded by the NIH since 2008. We also collaborate extensively nationally and internationally. The successful candidate will conduct research on the natural history of pulmonary fibrosis with a goal to improve the design of clinical trials through evidence-informed endpoint selection. The project will provide in-depth training on methods in clinical epidemiology including frequentist, Bayesian, and other adaptive approaches. The successful applicant will have an ScD, PhD or expect to gain such degree, have a formal qualification in epidemiology and/or biostatistics or other related discipline, and possess a familiarity with statistical software packages such as R, SAS, and/or STATA. S/he will have competence in standard medical statistics and have experience in publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in study design, the conduct of clinical or translational studies, and writing skills are essential. In addition, excellent verbal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team are imperative. The successful candidate will be jointly supervised by Drs. Margaret Salisbury (https://medicine.vumc.org/department-directory/Margaret-Salisbury) and Pingsheng Wu (https://www.vumc.org/biostatistics/person/pingsheng-wu). The research team also includes an experienced data analyst and a consultant (Melanie Quintana of Berry Consultants) with expertise in adaptive clinical trial design. Funding is secured through 2030, and the position renews annually. Vanderbilt University, located in Tennessee's capital city of Nashville, is one of America's premier private universities. Vanderbilt University Medical Center has been ranked Fortune's "100 Best Companies to Work For" and was also ranked as one of the best institutions for postdoctoral fellows in a survey conducted by The Scientist.
