The Center for Asthma Research Group at the Vanderbilt Institute for Population and Public Health is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow. Supervised by Dr. Pingsheng Wu, the project will provide in-depth training in quantitative epidemiology using large administrative datasets and electronic medical records.

| Full Description | We would like to invite applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Departments of Medicine, Division of Allergy, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine, Biostatistics, and the Center for Asthma Research (CAR). The Asthma Research Group is a multi-disciplinary, multi-investigator group of basic, translational and clinical scientists studying asthma disease prevention and early life risk factor identification. We operate several large administrative birth cohort studies and have been continuously funded by the NIH since 2008. We also collaborate extensively nationally and internationally. |
| Application Details | The successful candidate will conduct research examining the uptake, real-world effectiveness, and cost-effectiveness of maternal and infant respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) prevention products with a goal to reduce early life respiratory morbidity. The project will provide in-depth training in quantitative epidemiology using large administrative and electronic health records data, along with opportunities to build an independent research trajectory. The successful applicant will have an ScD, PhD or expect to gain such degree, have a formal qualification in epidemiology and/or biostatistics or other related discipline, and possess a familiarity with statistical software packages such as R, SAS, and/or STATA. S/he will have competence in standard medical statistics and have a record in publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Experience in study design, the conduct of clinical or translational studies, and writing skills is essential. In addition, excellent verbal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a team are imperative.
